Weekend Getaway!

It was a wonderful weekend for Steve and me.  We went on our first overnight trip without Anna.  We haven't been away together for a little over a year and it felt overdue.
Ken and Kate kindly let Anna stay with them Friday evening and Saturday.  We love you guys!
We stayed in Park City at the Newpark Resort and Hotel.  It was a really nice room with a fireplace and a HUGE tub.  It was also very close to several restaurants and stores.  Some of them in the same building.

Friday was kind of quiet.  We got our room then headed to Good Thymes Grill for dinner.  I had 'Mom's Meatloaf' and Steve had 'Bistro Chicken'.  We both left stuffed, but had enough room for a German chocolate brownie from Kneaders on our way back to our room.  We took it easy that night and played a couple of games and read.

 Saturday was our day of doing.  We started off by ordering room service from Kneaders for breakfast and playing 'Ticket to Ride'.  I won!  We then took a bubble bath in our GINORMOUS tub.  It took a good 10-15 minutes for it to fill up.  After checking out, we went looking for a geocache.  It was in a neighborhood, but had a great view.  I liked how easy it was to find.  It was my first geocache.  We then had lunch at Panda Express and then headed to the crown jewel of the day- the massage.  We had a couple's massage at the Massage Envy there at our hotel.  It was so relaxing.  I didn't fall asleep, but I could have.

 After our massage, we headed to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and used our wedding gift card- FINALLY!  We got a little easel to hold a tile and ordered a breakfast-in-bed tray with legs.

Our last activity was another geocache.  This one was much more adventurous.  It actually took us 2-2.5 hours to hike up to it and then hike back to our car.  It was a spur of the moment decision, so we weren't really prepared.  We both ended up with sunburns.  We were out in the brush for a lot of the hike; trudging through muddy tracks, ducking under dead trees, and trying not to slip on loose rocks.  Later, on the ride home, we found out that the area we were in was full of ticks!  Steve found one on his clothes and I found three!

There was a lot of uphill going.  We finally found the cache on the top of a huge hill under an old dead tree, beneath a pile of rocks.  We left a record of the day we found it and left a watch-face in the cache.  Finding the cache was great, but the view was spectacular.  It had a beautiful 360 view of the surrounding Park City area.

We had a wonderful time, this weekend and are determined to make this a yearly thing.  Love you Steve!
