So it's been almost 2 full months since I posted last. Life has been busy and I've been trying to stay off the computer when the kids are up. There's not a whole lot of time left over to work on posts when I just have an hour here and there.
First catch-up post is about the trip to Washington. Anna, Matthew, and I headed to my parents' house September 7. I was a little concerned about flying by myself with two kids, but everything went extremely well. The flight wasn't full so we got an extra seat to ourselves. Anna did really well playing with her activities on the plane and Matthew slept and played quietly. At the luggage carousel, a guy came up and said they were the best behaved kids he's ever seen on a plane. That made me feel good.
Most of our time was spent hanging out and playing with Nana and Pop. It was nice to just relax without any responsibilities after the stresses of the last few months. I read a lot and started doing some embroidery. Anna loved playing with Nana's toys and eating candy from the candy machine. She's told Pop that they should come visit her in California and bring the candy machine. We went to a couple of parks, too. We really liked the Bradley Lake Park. We picked wild blackberries, looked at the water, and played on the playground.
On the second weekend; Sarah, Peter, and the cousins came for a visit. It was the first time they'd met Matthew. Anna had so much fun playing with her cousins. She was so disappointed not to be able to sleep in the tent with the big boys, though. We were all going to go to the Puyallup Fair that Saturday, but Matthew got sick. Mom and Dad took Anna with Sarah and Peter's family to the Fair while I took Matthew to the doctor. He was diagnosed with ear infections. No wonder he hadn't slept for 3 nights! Anna had fun, but I was disappointed not get to the Fair.
Mom, Dad, the kids, and I did get a chance to go together the next week. It was a lot of fun, though expensive. Anna had a blast.
Steve came the last week of the visit. He had been in Utah for the weekend getting everything settled with the Shady Brook house. He cleaned, got a design and a landscaper for the yard, helped the movers pack everything up to be shipped to California, plus a whole host of smaller jobs. While he was in Washington, we all went bowling. So fun. I think that's one of the funnest family activities there are.
