My stake had a food storage class last Thursday about homemade sourdough bread. We each got a starter and some recipes. Then we got to eat samples of sourdough french bread, English muffins, and artisan bread. Yum!
This morning, I made the English muffins. Well, actually it started last night. I added milk and flour to the starter and let it sit out all night. Then this morning, I added a few more ingredients, kneaded the dough, cut out 20 muffins and coated them with cornmeal. Then they had to rise for 45 minutes. After that, I 'baked' them in the electric skillet with the lid on. I baked three batches and each batch took 15 minutes.
I'll admit, the were a little time-consuming, but worth it. Steve said they were the best English muffins he's ever eaten.
