Monday: Matthew has had another horrible night. I have decided to take him totally of solid foods this week. I think that I may have introduced too many foods too quickly. So, once we get things under control, I am going to re-introduce the foods again very slowly. I'm hoping that this is the cause of his nighttime troubles.
Tuesday: Steve and I are in the middle of rethinking our plans out here. We've discovered that our Shady Brook house is grossly over-priced compared to other homes for sale in the area. The other homes are just as big, but they have landscaping and they are 10-20,000 below our asking price. Whew! So, now we have to decide what our plan of action is going to be. Rent or Sell Shady Brook? Buy or Rent here? There's so much we have to decide.
Wednesday:
Nothing special about these days.
Thursday:
Friday: we headed up to the cabin for the weekend. Grandpa is turning 70 tomorrow and we wanted to be there to celebrate with him. Normally the drive takes about 3 hours, but with the traffic, it took us 4.5! We were glad when we finally got there.
On the drive, we pass through a large wind farm. There are at least 100 large windmills sitting along the ridge-top. We pointed them out to Anna and she said they looked like the fan in her room. After a couple of seconds, she says all excited, "so that's what makes the wind!". I like how her mind works.
Finally, Steve had some good news at work. His boss told him that he should apply to be certified in Java readability. Doesn't mean much to the layman, but it would be a nice feather in his cap at Google for being there such a short time.
Saturday: We spent today at the cabin celebrating Dad's 70th birthday. The most exciting news, however, is that I discovered that Matthew has gotten his first tooth! It's his lower front tooth on the left. I also think he is getting the other lower one because he continues to be extra cranky.

Week in Review: July 20-August 4
So here we are at the end of another week. Ready for another review?
This week, I have had a goal to get out and take a quick walk with the kids every morning. I want to make sure that we are getting out of the house at least once a day. Yay! We got out Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, and Sun. We'll keep working on that next week, too.
This last week, Steve and I have been watching the Lord of the Rings appendices. We watched both DVDs (5+ hrs) over the the week. It's amazing the amount of work and detail put into making them. I know, I know...we're needs.
Every Friday night is pizza night at our house. This week, I was going to make supreme pizza. I had everything, exvept the sauce. So I improvised. I cut up a couple of tomatoes and spread them around on the crust. I figured that if the Italians can make pizza without sauce, then so could I. I thought it was pretty good, but Steve really didn't like it. I guess I just need to make sure I always have sauce on hand.
I've joined a book club started by Steve's friend, Charles. It seems that I'm the only person in the club not in his family. The first book we read is called Rebound Rules. Unless you're a basketball nut, I wouldn't recommend it. It's a bunch of rules for being successful, but nothing mind blowing or new. Hopefully the new book will be better. It's called Four Fires. I'm not sure what it's about yet. Here's to hoping.
Steve is having so much fun at work. In fact, last week, he was doing some work that he found so engaging that he had a hard time tearing himself away from it to come home. He considered calling and asking to stay an hour later, but decided to be a great husband and father and just come home. I'm so glad that he enjoys his work so much.

Week in Review: July 22-28
Since this is kind of a history of our family, I've decided to do a weekly review of events. Usually, I only post big things, but I want some of the more regular things to come through. So, here it goes...
1. Homefront: We've narrowed down the area where we'd like to focus looking for a home. Morgan Hill. It's about a 45 minute drive south of San Jose. We like it because there's a little more room and it's a little quieter. The next part will be to pick a house, but that will have to wait until the house on Shadybrook sells.
2. Pioneer Day: This last Wednesday was Pioneer Day. Our ward didn't have anything planned, so I decided to organize some activities to celebrate. During the day, we made homemade butter in jars and did some weaving with yarn and popsicle sticks. Anna and her friend, Evan, only lasted a couple of minutes. It was up to Desiree and me to finish up. For dinner we had homemade cornbread with our butter and a drink from a pioneer cookbook. The cornbread was yummy, but the only one that liked the drink was Anna because it was so sweet.
3. Missionaries: We had the missionaries over for dinner on Thursday and had tacos, Mexican rice, and Black beans. It's the third time we've had them over. We're trying to decide if having them over is worth the guilt we feel about missionary work when they leave.
4. Matthew: Matthew's big achievement the last couple of weeks is that he's sitting up on his own! He does very well until he tips too far one way and then down he goes. He's also doing great at rolling from his tummy to his back. On the down-side, his nighttime sleeping has gone south again. He keeps waking up about 4 hours after bedtime. He used to go 8 hours. When I don't feed him, he is VERY angry.
5. Anna: Anna had so much fun at Mom's Morning Out in the park on Tuesday. She loved running around with all the kids. Grandma asked her to say the prayer on the food and she did so well! She spoke clearly and loudly. Later that week, I noticed that she is getting shy around strangers. Anna also loves Nursery. She has told us several times that she doesn't like having to wait through Sacrament meeting before going. When I picked her up from Nursery today, she started wailing about how she didn't want to go home. Oy!
6. Steve: Steve is loving work. He's been spending about 20% of his time working on a new product called Chromecast. It plugs into your TV and allows you to 'cast' whatever's on your Chrome browser to the TV screen. You can also throw videos from Netflix and YouTube. It was released this past Wednesday to the public. To celebrate the release, Google sent the GoogleTV group to Great America on Friday. They provided free tickets and parking vouchers. They also served us lunch. We had a blast.
7. Melissa: I've been reading a lot, lately. I've joined a book club with Steve's friend, Charles, and his family. Right now we're reading Rebound Rules by Rick Pitino. He's a college basketball coach. It's a motivational, success book. There are some good ideas, nothing too inovative, but he talks SO much about basketball and other sports as if I know what he's talking about. I guess if you were into sports it would be more interesting. I've also been reading through the kindergarten and first grade curriculum for homeschooling Waldorf-method. It's been very interesting. Anna won't start kindergarten for another year and first grade for another 3 years, but it has a lot of things that I could be learning beforehand and ideas of things to do during the 'preschool' years.
Well, there you go. I hope it wasn't too boring for you to read through. Until next week!
