Week in Review: August 5-11

Monday Highlights: this is our shopping day. I am really loving grocery delivery. WalMart is doing a trial run of delivery here in the Bay area.  I make my menu and shopping list on Saturday and then I go online to order everything but fresh produce and meat.  Delivery is between 7 and 9am on Monday!

Tuesday Highlights: Matthew had a terrible night last night.  He was up at 10:30, 1:30, and then 3:00!  I refused to nurse him at 3 because it had only been 1.5 hours since his last nursing.  He was not pleased and cried and yelled off and on for an hour.  I got back to bed at 4:00 and then he woke up at 5:30, nursed again, and then was up for the day at 6:00.  Oy!  I hope he gets over whatever phase he's going through fast!

My in-laws neighborhood association had a movie in the park night.  We decided to go have a picnic, though we didn't stay for the movie because it was too late.  We had all-natural hotdogs, watermelon, coconut-oatmeal cookies (made by Steve on Sunday), and sweet potato chips.  I bought a mandolin last week and love it.  Anna and I sliced up 3 sweet potatoes so fast and baked them in the oven.  Anna was over the moon that one of the potatoes was purple.  Yum!

Wednesday Highlights:  It's Google night!  Every Wednesday Steve has a team meeting until 5:30, which means rush hour traffic.  So, instead, the kids and I head over there and have dinner at one of the cafeterias with him.  I love this because I don't have to cook and we get a dinner out- for free!  Tonight we headed over to Moma and had Indonesian food.  The only down-side is that the food is served cafeteria style, which can make for long lines.  Steve grabs some drinks and anything he can snag quickly and sits with the kids while I stand in line and grab food for all of us.  I'm sure the people behind me must think I'm a huge glutton!

Thursday Highlights:  We decided to slowly reintroduce the three foods we've given to Matthew again.  He slept great on the day I gave him only zucchini so I just gave him bananas today to see if that would upset his stomach and keep him awake.  After the bananas, we'll do the carrots.

Anna, Matthew, and I headed to the park for lunch today.  I need to get out there more often.

Thursday is bath night.  Usually it's just Anna.  Matthew doesn't really get dirty and with sensitive/dry skin running in the family, we didn't want to do too many at first.  However, Matthew's gotten too big for the sling in the tub and he can sit up, so we've had him sitting in the baby tub.  He LOVES it!  He will just sit there and splash and kick and laugh.  When I was getting the bath ready for Anna, and he saw the bath, he started bouncing up and down and waving his arms.  You could tell that he really, really wanted to get in the water, too.  So, now we've got two kids taking their baths together.  So fun.

Friday Highlights:  It was Christmas in August today!  Steve's parents got back this evening from a trip to Colorado via Utah.  While they were there, they stayed at the Shady Brook house and picked up a few things for us.  We all got clothes, especially Matthew.  He got a whole tub.  We also got our stroller, baby swing, and highchair.  The complete Harry Potter series and new books for the kids came, too.  Steve got his monitor andwealsogot a opulent of our board games.  It's so nice to see some more of our stuff.  I can't wait until we can finally move into our own place and get everything back.

Saturday Highlights:  We had a great day, today.  I got to go shopping with my good friend, Desiree.  I needed everything!  We had a lot of fun at the Valley Fair Mall, just us and Matthew.  We also had a yummy lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.  While we were gone, Steve and Anna took a trip to the park and played.

That evening, Steve's parents took the kids and we went on a date to Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot.  I'd been wanting to take Steve to a hot pot restaurant for a while.  We had fun cooking all our meats and veggies.  The sauces weren't so great, but the soup itself was fabulous.  We'll have to go again and bring Charles and Desiree.
Sunday Highlights:  Unfortunately, our highlights for today are that Anna started having accidents.  Once before church and once after church.  I'm not sure if something is bothering her or if she is just waiting too long before she heads to the bathroom. We had her wear a diaper after the second accident for a while. She really didn't like that.

One more thing.  As you know, Matthew has been eating solid foods this week.  Because of that, his poop changed from the liquid diet to a solid it poop.  It's a little more work for him and he doesn't like that.  In fact, the first time he pooped, he scared himself.  He grunted and when he was done, his eyes got all big and he started crying.  I think he's finally getting used to it, but it's so funny to watch him get all purple and listen to his little grunts.
